1st Conference of Balkan Cinematographers in Bitola

The First ever Balkan Cinematographers Conference takes place on September 20th in Bitola, in organization of Imago, and the help of both the International Cinematographers’ Film Festival “Manaki Brothers” and the  Macedonian Society of Cinematographers with the aim to to encourage a greater understanding between the ten participating countries: Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Macedonia, Serbia, Slovenia and Romania.

The Bitоla meeting will have the agenda “The effects of Globalisation and Rapid Technological Development on Cultural Policies of the Countries of South East Europe” and is expected to be attended by several delegates from South-European countries.

Mr. Alan Piper, representing RED, a company which has done more than any other to revolutionize the direction of recent cinematography will also be attending the conference.

Imago hopes the legacy from this initiative will inspire the younger cinematographers of the Balkan countries to actively support their societies for the long term benefit of their profession.

The 33 edition of International Cinematographers’ Film Festival “Manaki Brothers”, has invited two distinguished cinematographers to receive the 2012 Golden Camera 300 award and to take part of the Conference, Christian Berger AAC, who was given the highest award in cinematography two years ago in Los Angeles for Haneke’s “The White Ribbon” and Luciano Tovoli ASC AIC, who apart from his fine cinematography was the inspiration behind the formation of Imago twenty years ago.
