230.000 euros European Support for Macedonian Co-productions
Macedonian Film Agency CEO, Mrs. Mimi Gjoroska Ilievska attended the 144. General Assembly of the Board of Management of Eurimages – the Council of Europe fund, which took place over the period of October 17-21, as the country’s national representative to Eurimages. At the Assembly, the Board decided to adopt decisions for financial support of co-production projects, cinemas, distribution, promotion and gender equality.
Out of a total of 46 submitted projects, the Board decided to support 26 film projects at the call for support of co-productions published in August this year for a total amount of 5.689.593 euros.
Three Macedonian minority feature film projects also received support:
-“Compatibility” by Stefan Komandarev
Co-production: Argo Films Ltd (Bulgaria), Aktis Film (Germany) and Sektor Film (Macedonia) supported with 100.000 EUR;
-“Frog” by Elmir Jukic
Co-production: Refresh Production (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Skopje Film Studio (Macedonia) and Living Pictures (Serbia), supported with 80.000 EUR;
-„Neighbors“ by Grigol Abashidze
Co-production: Artizm (Georgia) and Small Moves (Macedonia), supported with 50.000 EUR
These projects have also been supported by the Macedonian Film Agency at the Call for support of feature, documentary, short and animation projects, as Macedonian minority co-productions.
Macedonia and Skopje to Host the 148. Assembly of Eurimages
The dates of the Assembly meetings which are to take place next year have also been specified. Namely, Macedonia will take over the hosting of the General Assembly of Eurimages which scheduled to take place 16-20 October, 2017 in Skopje.
Eurimages - the Council of Europe fund was created in 1989, and Macedonia is member since 2003. The aim of Eurimages is to promote the European film industry by encouraging the production and distribution of films and fostering co-operation between professionals and offering assistance for co-production, for distribution, to cinemas and support for digitization of Eurimages funded projects.
Eurimages is the Council of Europe fund for the co - production, distribution, exhibition and digitization of European cinematographic works. The fund was created in 1989 within the framework of the Council of Europe, as a Partial Agreement, under Committee of Ministers Resolution. It has currently 34 Member States. Macedonia is member since 2003.
The aim of Eurimages is to promote the European film industry by encouraging the production and distribution of films and fostering co-operation between professionals. It has a clear cultural aim and is complementary to the Media programme of the European Union. Eurimages has developed four funding programs: assistance for co-production, for distribution, to cinemas and support for digitization of Eurimages funded projects.The fund supports fiction films, animated films and documentaries (of minimum 70min) destined for theatrical release. A main condition of obtaining Eurimages support is that the project is an international between at least two member states of Eurimages, but non-member states can also participate in the co-production.
