33th International Cinematographers’ Film Festival “Manaki Brothers” Starts Today

Traditionally, the International Cinematographers' Film Festival "Manaki Brothers" starts today in Bitola and lasts until September 21, with Darko Mitrevski’s “The Third Half” premiere marking the opening ceremony of the festival’s 33th edition.


                

 

This year’s edition offers an impressive program comprising the latest of the European and world film production, making it attractive to film professionals and film-lovers from around the world.  Apart from the official competition, with directors of photography competing for the Golden, Silver and Bronze Camera 300 Award, the festival will for the first time feature a Macedonian panorama, a selection of the very best of the recent Macedonian cinematography.

The festival is also renowned for its Golden Camera 300 Award for life achievement awarded to outstanding and leading world cinematographers, which this year goes to Italian cinematographer Luciano TOVOLI, AIC/ASC, while the laureate of the Special Golden Camera 300 for Outstanding Contribution to World Film Art is Austrian Christian BERGER, AAC. The international actress Catherine Denevue has been announced as an exclusive quest at the festival and the winner of the Special Award Golden camera 300, which will be presented to her at the opening of this 33th edition.

Aleksandar Popovski’s  “Balkan Is Not Dead” will also have its premiere at the festival as the closing night film, which is for the first time that Macedonian films both open and close the festival's ceremonies.
