6th edition of festival for animated film

The sixth edition of the International Film Festival of Animated Film "Animax Skopje Fest" opens today and will run until 4 December at the Cinematheque of Macedonia under the motto “Up”.

The festival will screen 50 animated films in the official program, out of which 8 are intended for young audiences. The selection was made out of the record 1.527 applications from 85 countries, most of which are from the United States, UK and France, but also from Germany, India, Iran, Spain, Russia, Brazil and others, and many of the selected films have been awarded at A category film festivals.

Traditionally, on the last day of the festival - December 4, the international jury will award Golden, Silver and Bronze Brick. Also, the festival will award Golden Brick for best animated film for children, voted by the children during the four festival days. The Mayor of Skopje will also give a special award - Grand Prix Plaque to author Nicolas Brol from Canada.

The additional festival program will include 3 workshops on animation and one book promotion.

The official program of the festival starts at 20.00 pm. The entrance is free for children.

"Animax Skopje Fest" is organized by the production company "Auripigment" in cooperation with the Film School "Tintiri Mintiri" from Skopje, Cinematheque of Macedonia and it’s supported by the Macedonian Film Agency.

"Animax Skopje Fest" is the first and only festival of animated film in Macedonia. The aim of the festival is to raise and build culture of making animated films for adults and children, which presents various aspects of everyday life.
