Macedonia won four awards and recognitions at the 74th Edition of the  World  Amateur Film Festival UNICA, taking place August 25 - September 2 in Ruse, Bulgaria.

Ana Aleksovska’s “Alarm” won one of the ten Silver Medals, competing against 136 films that entered the selection, while the Bronze Medal of the Main Programme went to Irina Nikolovska for her film “Memories”.

Part of the festival is The World Minute Movie Cup, held annually and featuring a selection of the most outstanding 1 minute films from around the world. The Cup is decided by audience vote and this year the audience awarded the Macedonian film “We Used to Touch the Music” by Mice Chapovski  with the 3rd Prize. It is for the first time that a Macedonian film wins a prize in this category.

The Main Competition Diploma of Honour, awarded to films presenting unique concepts, went to another Macedonian film, “The World” by the young author Marina Trajkovska.

The acclaimed Macedonian author Petre Capovski  was also a part of the festival's  seven member jury.

This is a great success for Macedonia in the history of the festival which is held in different country every year and features programmes compiled by national federations. Macedonia is represented by the Cinema Association of Macedonia, a UNICA member since 1996.
