Giffoni Day - Promoting the 1st Ever Giffoni Children's Film Festival In Macedonia



The promotional event "Giffoni Day", in organization of the Macedonian Film Fund and the Giffoni Office in Skopje , takes place today (27.05.2013) with the purpose of introducing Macedonian audiences and youth with the concept of the educational Children’s Film Festival “Giffoni Macedonia” to be taking place October 20-27, 2013 in Skopje, Macedonia.. The activities of the Giffoni Day will take place at several venues including he Youth Cultural Centre, the Cinematheque of Macedonia, the Faculty of Dramatic Arts and Macedonia Square andwill involve the active participation of about 280 students from Macedonian primary and secondary schools, divided into three age groups (10-12 years, 13-15 years and 16-18 years).

The first year of the festival is envisioned to include 400 to 450 students from several municipalities in Macedonia, with a joined participation of children from Italy, Albania, Serbia, Montenegro, Bulgaria, Greece, Kosovo and Turkey.


 “Giffoni” is an event dedicated to raising the cultural awareness and the level of informal education of children, integrating in its program a number of educational workshops, screenings of local and international film production and offering a very interesting and entertaining program.


The primary goal of its educational activities is to enable the children to enrich their knowledge beyond formal education through participation in workshops designed to encourage the creative side of their personality. The children act as the main festival jurors; they watch, discuss and evaluate the films, while the film program comprises of an exceptional selection of films appropriately targeted at its age groups but covering much more than films for children, which is an additional encouragement to expand cultural horizons in the right direction and also to develop the children’s personalities.


The Giffoni Day is organized by the Office of Giffoni Macedonia in cooperation with the Macedonian Film Fund and is supported by the Macedonian Ministry of Culture, the Youth Cultural Centre, the Cinematheque of Macedonia, the City of Skopje, Karpos Municipality, the Embassy of Italy in Macedonia, the Faculty of Dramatic Arts, Fon University, Karmela Mak Kredo, Acibadem Sistina, Pastel Bakery, Makinvest, Jana Water, Vitaminka, Viva, Vitalia, Swisslion and Media City.
