Jubilee Edition Of International Short Film Festival - ASTERFEST



The jubilee 10th edition of the International Short Film Festival – ASTERFEST opened on May 27 at the Cultural Center “Anton Panov” in Strumica, and lasted until May 31, under the motto “New and old”.

The festival offered rich program continuously promoting selected competition in the categories of short films, creative documentary and animated films, divided into three competitive programs: Global Fiction, Star Documents and Animotion. The festival featured several works from the recent Macedonian production among which “Good Time to Die” by Senad Abduly, "409" by Darijan Pejovik, "Threre’s a Man in a Habit of Hitting Me on the Head with un Umbrella" by Vardan Tozija, "Audition Material" by Gjorce Stavreski, "Drop by Sometimes" by Kosara Mitik, "Violent Youth" by Marko Gjokovik and "Hairs" by Eleonora Veninova.

The festival jury awarded "Good Time To Die" by Senad Abduly with the Aco Aleksov Award.

The Macedonian actress Ljupka Dzundeva was one of the laureates and this year’s winner of the honorary award of Asterfest and the Tiberiopolian Film Alliance for high achievements in film and dramatic arts together with the internationally acclaimed documentary filmmaker and an accomplished visual artist and film-editor Boris Gerrets, this year’s winner of Aster Award for high achievements in European and world film.

This year’s “AsterFest” is financed by the Ministry of Culture of Macedonia, the Municipality of Strumica and the EU Delegation, and is supported by several embassies and other institutions as well. The Cinematheque of Macedonia remains a traditional partner of “Asterfest”.
