“MIDPOINT” In Partnership With the Macedonian Film Agency, To Be Held In Ohrid June 10 to 16



“MIDPOINT Feature Launch” a prestigious professional program for development of film projects is organizing its first session, in cooperation with the Macedonian Film Agency, from 10 to 16 June 2017 at the Ohrid Film Academy, followed by a second workshop, that from 15 to 21 October will take place in Prague. On the two workshops participate 8 projects, among which is selected “19”, by the Macedonian director Kosara Mitic. Despite this one, the workshop’s participants and projects are: “Alive in Moscow”, Grigore Bechet and Elie Aufseesser (Moldova / Switzerland); “Asunden”, Petter Ringbom and Eliza Jones (Sweden); “Inventory”, Vlado Bulajic and Darko Sinko (Slovenia); “Mnk Boy”, Bas Broertjes, Sibel Altinbas and Mete Gumurhan (Netherlands); “Night of the Whale”, Jordi Niubo and Kaveh Daneshmand (Spain / Czech republic / Iran); “Waterwolf”, Anastassia Oudovitchenko and Ann-Julie Vervaeke (Belgium) and “Zana”, Antoneta Kastrati and Casey Johnson (Kosovo / USA).

Apart from the “MIDPOINT Feature Launch”, at the same time it is held the workshop “MIDPOINT Intensive Macedonia”, where teams from the director and producer of 3 Macedonian projects, will work on creative development of the script and the production aspects of their films. After the workshop it will be provided special online consultation, depending on the needs of each project. This workshop is led by an experienced consultant for scriptwriting Pavel Marek and it is accompanied with plenary sessions and one-on-one meetings with an international team of experts from different areas of the audiovisual industry, such as Daniel Hocevar, Elma Tataragic, Gabriele Brunnenmeyer and Ognen Svilicic. Macedonian projects participating in this workshop are: “Summer Sylvia”, Andrej Volkasin and Elena Stanisheva; “Lost son of Pasha”, Senad Abduli and Gazmend Izairi; “Snow White dies at the end”, Kristijan Risteski and Simeon Damevski.

MIDPOINT was conceived at FAMU Prague in 2010 with the aim of strengthening creative collaboration between writer, director and producer in the development process. In the years of existence, MIDPOINT has grown into a platform that provides several types of workshops designed to cover the area of film and TV dramaturgy and systematically to assist filmmakers during the entire development process.

 MIDPOINT has over 500 graduates, mostly young filmmakers from Central and Eastern Europe. Filmmakers who attended MIDPOINT have achieved success at festivals such as Berlinale, Karlovy Vary IFF, Cannes Film Festival and market platforms such as Baltic Event, CineLink or the Thessaloniki Co-production Market.

MIDPOINT has partnerships with leading industry platforms, film schools, training providers and national film funds in Europe and USA such as the Sundance Institute, Mediterranean Film Institute, EAVE, HBO Europe, Berlinale Talents, Torino Film Lab, When East Meets West, PWSFTviT Łódź, VŠMU Bratislava, UNATC Bucharest and dffb Berlin and many others.
