Macedonia at the Cannes Film Festival with Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s “The Wild Pear Tree”



Through the Production Company "Sisters and Brother Mitevski Production" Macedonia participates in the latest film by the genius Nuri Bilge Jailan – THE WILD PEAR TREE, which is selected in the in the main program at the Cannes Film Festival. This cooperation brings to Macedonia – as a co-producer country – the second participation at the Cannes Film Festival in the main program, after 2016, when Macedonia participated for the first time with the co-production SIERRANEVADA by Cristi Puiu, again through the production company "Sisters and Brother Mitevski Production". The premiere of THE WILD PEAR TREE is scheduled for May 18th.

Nuri Bilge Ceylan is one of the greatest European and world authors and one of the most successful directors in the history of the Cannes Film Festival. THE WILD PEAR TREE is his sixth film at the Cannes Film Festival. 188 minutes of completely uncompromising author piece of work.

THE WILD PEAR TREE is a complex co-production between seven countries, Turkey, France, Germany, Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria and Sweden as well as with the support of Eurimages. Macedonia was the first country to get involved in this big project. This film achievement is supported as a minority project by the Macedonian Film Agency.
