Macedonian Film Fund At Cannes Film Festival Marche Du Film
The Macedonian Film Fund will for the fourth time take part of the Marche du Film, within this year’s 66 edition of Cannes Film Festival running May 15-26, promoting the country as a favorable filming spot as well as presenting the Macedonian cinematic output to wider audiences.
Macedonia once again joins Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Bulgaria, Slovenia and Serbia at the regional pavilion of South-Eastern Europe (SEE Pavilion), an annual meeting place for a network of film professionals, offering a presentation of the latest of South-East European cinema.
Darko Mitrevski’s “The Third Half” will have its presentation within the Marche du Film, its screening scheduled to take place May 18 at Riviera 4 (3.30 pm), while the Short Film Corner will host screenings of three films from Macedonia:
- “Sound Seekers”, a documentary directed by Suzana Dinevski (supported by the Macedonian Film Fund)
-“Doors” , an independent short film directed by Italian cinematographer Michele De Angelis (shot on locations in Bitola)
- "To Guard a Mountain", a Macedonian/Norwegian co-production, directed by Izer Aliu (supported by the Macedonian Film Fund)
The Macedonian producer Labina Mitevska ("The Woman Who Brushed Off Her Tears") will join 28 producers from across Europe that will be taking part in the European Film Promotion’s programme Producers on the move 2013.
The Cannes Film Festival is scheduled to open with Baz Luhrmann’s “The Great Gatsby”, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Carrie Mulligan and close with Jerome Salle’s thriller “Zulu”. French actress Audrey Tautou has been announced to host the opening and closing festival ceremonies.
