Macedonian Films At Cannes Film Market
Macedonia Featured In Variety Magazine
For the third time in a row, the Macedonian Film Fund presents three Macedonian films at the Cannes Film Market, a branch of the Cannes Film Festival, one of world's most prestigious film festivals. Since its debut in 2010, the Macedonian stand, placed within the South - Eastern Europe pavilion, in its quest to attract more foreign productions offers not only a presentation of Macedonian cinematography to the great number of film professionals frequenting the Market every year, but also a promotion of the country as an ideal filming location, accentuating low personal income tax rates and favorable conditions for filmmakers.
The Macedonian Films that have already had their screenings at the Cannes Film Market are Teona Strugar Mitevska’s latest film “The Woman Who Brushed Off Her Tears” (with a premiere screening on Saturday, 10:00h, at RIVIERA 3) and the “Balkan Is Not Dead” by Aleksandar Popovski (Sunday, 11.30h at PALAIS D). At the same time tomorrow, PALAIS D will also host a screening of Darko Mitrevski’s “The Third Half”.
Robert Naskov is the Macedonian producer chosen alongside 24 producers from across Europe to take part in the European film promotion networking platform “Producers on the Move”, which enables producers to meet people from the film industry and exchange information on producing and financing in various European countries.
An article covering the initiatives and progress of the Macedonian cinematography was featured in the Variety magazine published today. For more info, click HERE
