Macedonian projects at Balkan Film Market



In the period from 2 to 7 October 2017, in Tirana, R. Albania was organized the first Balkan Film Market, where two programs for film professionals, “Pitch Balkan” and “Albascript Plus” were realized. At the Market also were presented the submitted projects for minority co-productions with Albania.

The whole event was accompanied by a parallel panel discussions involving film professionals, as well as representatives of film centers, funds and agencies in the region.

The event started on 2 October with the Regional MEDIA Meeting, dedicated to the MEDIA sub-program of Creative Europe, which was attended by representatives of the desks from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Serbia, Croatia and Bari, Italy. 

Within the framework of the “Pitch Balkan” program, which is intended for regional authors working on the development of their first or second feature or documentary film, participated the project “Snow White dies at the end”, which was presented by the director Kristijan Risteski and the producer Darko Popov and who the Best Pitch Award.

At the “Albascript Plus” workshop were presented feature and short films from the Balkan authors, which through a five-day screenwriting workshop was offered with the opportunity to work intensively on their scenarios in an environment structured to foster regional cooperation and quality development. Part of this workshop was the feature project “Bunker” by the script of Marko Crnogorski and Jana Paunovska, as well as the short film “Post” by Kiril Maksimovski.

In the part of the projects which applied for minority co-production with Albania, were presented “Lena and Vladimir” by Igor Aleksov, “Maybe”, by Kastriot Abduli, “The Breath of the Angel” by Jani Bojadzi and “Happiness Effect” by Borjan Zafirovski.
