Revue of Russian war films at the Cinematheque of Macedonia
The Cinematheque of Macedonia hosts a Revue of Russian war film on occasion of the 70th anniversary since the end of the Second World War. The Revue opens tonight at 8 pm with the film “The Normandie-Niemen” by Jean Dréville, Damir Vyatich-Berezhnykh.. Over the following five days, several outstanding films directed by acclaimed Russian directors will be screened as part of the program, with screenings open to the public for free.
The Revue includes the following films:
May 9 - Father of a Soldier (1965) by Rezo Chkheidze.
May 10 - We are from the Future (2008) by Andrey Malyukov
May 11 - We are from the future 2 (2010) by Aleksandr Samohvalov
May 12 - White Tiger (2012) by Karen Shakhnazarov
During the opening ceremony, H.E. Mr. Oleg Shcherbak, Russian Ambassador to Macedonia will award Mr. Darko Basheski, the Macedonian Film Agency’s Acting Director with the Medal of Pushkin. The President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin with a Decree of October 28, 2014 decided to honour and award Mr. Darko Basheski with the decoration in recognition of his great contribution to the development of friendship ties and the trade, economic, and cultural cooperation with the Russian Federation.
