The Macedonian Film Agency Signs an Agreement for Development of Co-production Projects between Italy and Macedonia
Today, at 12 am, at the Italian Pavilion – Sala Tropicana (Hotel Excelsior) within the 72nd edition of Venice Film Festival, Darko Basheski, Macedonian Film Agency CEO and Nicola Borelli, chairman of the Directorate General for Cinema of the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Activities and Tourism, have signed an agreement for the development of co-production projects between Italy and Macedonia.
With this agreement, the countries have agreed to support the co-development of feature films (feature, documentary and animation film) with quality screenplay and potential to develop into high quality films that will attract audiences in both countries and the rest of the world.
The agreement defines the conditions and the applying procedures concerning the producers. The producers are required to operate in accordance with the Macedonian legislation and the Macedonian Film Agency legislation as well as the Italian legislation and the guidelines of the Directorate General for Cinema of the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Activities and Tourism.
The total amount of funding of co-production projects by the countries is 60.000 EUR on annual basis, i.e. 30.000 EUR per country.
Tomorrow (Friday, 04.09.2015), within the 72nd edition of Venice International Film Festival, the film “Banat” by Adriano Valerio, a co-production between Italy, Macedonia, Romania and Bulgaria will have its official premiere. The project has been supported as a minority co-production by the Macedonian Film Agency. Over the last year, part of the filming of the projects took place on locations in Macedonia.
