Thrid edition of Youth Film Festival "Giffoni Macedonia" Kicks Off Tomorrow
The start of the third edition of Youth Film Festival “Giffoni Macedonia”, which will run October 7-11 in Skopje was announced at a press conference which took place yesterday (05.10.2015), within the premises of the Youth Cultural Center – MKC at 11 a.m.
The press conference was opened with the message “Let’s daydream together”. Dear young people from the country, we wish that in the next five days your nights are filled with dreams and your days with daydreams. Giffoni asks you to join us in dreaming with eyes wide open and to continue down this path we’ve been walikng over the past three years. We expect that once again you will share with us your creative energy and through film magic succeed in creating a great space filled with all your stories, enveloped in this new experience “Giffoni experience”.
This year, the festival’s international jury traditionally includes 600 youth divided into age groups ranging from 10-18. The audience will consist not only of young people coming from Macedonia but also 50 young people from 10 different countries (Serbia, Croatia, Albania, Romania, Russia, Spain, Italy, USA, France and Belgium).
Festival activities will take place on two locations: the activities of the Juniors (10-13 year olds) will take place at the Macedonian National Theatre while the activities of the Cadets (13-16 year olds) and Seniors (16-18 year olds) will be located at the Youth Cultural Center – MKC.
We are happy to announce that as of this year, the festival’s official partner is Makedonski Telekom which as a so-called ‘Giffoni friend’ will join the Macedonian Film Agency, the Association for promotion of film culture Djifoni M and Giffoni Experience-Italy in their efforts through a rich film and educational program to create another successful story full of new opportunities and experiences for the young people which are part of the local and international jury.
This edition of the Youth Film Festival “Giffoni Macedonia” will include a great array of festival activities - a rich film program, educational workshops a master class and many more. During the five festival days the youth will get an unforgettable chance to forge friendships, exchange experiences and get a chance to become and remain film and culture lovers.
The official film program will include a total of 14 films divided according to the appropriate age categories: official Juniors program, official Cadets program and official Seniors program.
The educational program includes a great number of fun, interesting and creative subjects under the theme of Daydreaming divided into 12 workshops.
The young people from the Cadets and Seniors categories will also get the opportunity to attend a master class on the Introduction in Professional Filmmaking, led by producer Ognen Antov and director Stojan Vujicic, offering an insight of the ways, rules and principles of filmmaking, through a case study of their short film “A Brtoher for One Day”.
Besides the films in the official program the festival will showcase a Revue of 10 Macedonian shorts by young people from our country as well as 6 short films created by the team of the Croatian Film Association, who as festival guests will present themselves through the creative workshops Film Critic and Special Effects.
As an addition, through the Green carpet, all last year’s participants will get a unique opportunity to meet and greet film industry professionals who will be present as festival guests. These activities have the aim to bring the youth closer to the film workers in Macedonia and abroad and represent an opportunity for them to better be acquainted with the process and difficulties of filmmaking.
The Youth Film festival “Giffoni Macedonia” will open on 07.10.2015 at Cinema Millennium at 7.30 p.m. with the film “It never rains in Naples” by Italian director Sergio Assisi.
Youth Film Festival “Giffoni Macedonia” is organized by the Association for promotion of film culture Djifoni M, thanks to the signed agreement for cooperation between the Macedonian Film Agency and Giffoni Experience Italy.
