Visar Morina’s Feature Project “Father” at Karlovy Vary International Film Festival


Visar Morina’s directorial debut “Father” was screened in the Official selection – the main competitive section of the prestigious Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, taking place June 3-11 in the Czech Republic. The film is competing for the main prize – the Crystal Globe.

The film tells the story of a 10-year-old boy who follows his father on a dramatic journey from Kosovo to Germany. “Father”, written and directed by Visar Morina is a German/Kosovan/French/Macedonian co-production with the Macedonian producer being Skopje Film Studio.  

“Father” has had its world premiere as part of 33. Munich Film Festival and won three New German Cinema Talent Prizes for Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Actor as well as the Honorary One Future Prize.

The project is  supported by West German Broadcasting (WDR), Film und Medienstiftung (NRW), German Federal Film Board (FFA), Kosova Cinematography Center and Macedoniam Film Agency.
